Holiday gospel concert: songs of love and hope
On Saturday, December 2, 1995 at 6:30 Columbus residents will have the opporpm tunity to attend a wonderful holiday fundraising concert to benefit The Columbus AIDS Task Force and The Bernice Troy Home. The Holiday Gospel Concert: Songs of Love and Hope will be at Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church 842 East Third Ave. This concert of inspirational songs and music performed by some of Columbus' best gospel singers will feature: DeQuawn Henson, Patricia Ross, Brothers In Gospel, Deborah Tucker with the James Tucker Inspirational Singers, and pianist Michael Pryor.

The Bernice Troy Home is a transitional home for medically-fragile children born with HIV. Bernice Troy Home also cares for HIV+ families and individuals in a home like atmosphere.
AIDS devastates the lives of men, women and children throughout Central Ohio. AIDS is now the leading cause of death for men ages 25 to 44 in our community and is fast becoming one of the leading causes of death of women in the same age group. Since 1981, over 900 people have died of AIDS-related causes in Columbus and Franklin County.

The concert is a unique event to raise funds for services to persons in the African American Community living with HIV/ AIDS, their families and friends.
The Columbus AIDS Task Force provides information and referral services to people living with HIV/AIDS, operates the Ohio AIDS Hotline, and conducts prevention education programs throughout central Ohio.

The growth of AIDS cases still disproportionately impacts the African-American
community. AfricanAmericans represent 33% of all reported AIDS cases in the United States. In Ohio 30% of the reported cases were in the African-American community. In 1995, 46% of the reported new cases in Ohio were AfricanAmericans. The number of new AIDS cases continue to grow locally, and no cure is expected before the year 2000.
